Daryl dumps dirty JFK Jnr
Their love seemed fairytale perfect but Daryl Hannah and John Kennedy Jnr are now bitterly separated. Helen Hawkes reports She's a tall, blonde, willowy movie star. He's been dubbed "The Sexiest Man Alive". Undoubtedly, they were the world's most glamorous couple … Hollywood meets the White House in the tradition of Marilyn Monroe and President John F. Kennedy. But now it seems the love match between actor Daryl Hannah, 32, and John Kennedy Jnr may be over because of his womanising ways. John Jnr, who turned 33 last month, has turned his wandering attention to a new blonde, Calvin Klein publicist Carolyne Bessette. Daryl, who won't tolerate him seeing other women, has thrown him out of her New York apartment where they have been living together for eight months. The star of Splash, Roxanne and Steel Magnolias is now 5,000 km away in Los Angeles, filming a spoof called Attack of the 50-Foot Woman, while John Jnr, has been spotted smooching with Carolyne in Central Park. Rumours that Daryl and the world's most eligible bachelor were set to marry peaked last summer when they were said to have taken out a secret wedding licence. They flew to the Pacific in August and were believed to have slipped quietly away for a wedding on the palm-fringed island of Guam. But no confirmation was forthcoming and it was later claimed that the famous lovebirds would wed at the Kennedy family's holiday compound in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. But again, John Jnr proved commitment-shy. Insiders say Daryl, who can be possessive and jealous, hasn't won the hearts of Jackie Onassis and John's sister Caroline, even if she had wooed the assassinated President's son. Yet in many ways Daryl resembles Jackie - ethereal yet determined, manipulative yet shy, spacey yet frighteningly focused when she set her heart on something, or someone. She also has a powerful ally in the shape of her stepfather, the tycoon Jerry Wexler, who arranged for her to meet John Jnr at the wedding of Jackie's sister Lee Radziwill to film producer Herb Ross in September 1988. But Daryl's tempestuous relationship with singer Jackson Browne, 43, whom she met at a concert in Chicago when she was 22, has always spelt romantic trouble. By 1990, she was still vacillating between him and John Jnr, while he amused himself with other women. It wasn't until the movie star was taken dangerously ill during the filming of At Play In The Fields Of The Lord, that their romance truly blossomed - John Jnr arranged for 1,000 red roses to be flown to her bedside. By 1992, she was resolving to sever her ties with Browne. She flew to Los Angeles on September 23 to pack up her belongings but what followed was a vicious fight. The police were called to the multi-million dollar beach house in Santa Monica where Browne was rumoured to have assaulted his live-in love of seven years. Ever the knight in shining armour, John Jnr rushed to Daryl's side. To the world, it seemed as if finally a wedding was imminent. But that was to ignore John Jnr's inherited hunger for beautiful women. Although he'd never been drawn to society girls, or debutantes, he has dated such desirable women as supermodel Cindy Crawford, Pretty Woman star Julia Roberts, actor Sarah Jessica Parker and superstar Madonna. The latest twist in his romance with Daryl may well be the final chapter in an affair that has fascinated the public. Once, a passer-by videoed them in a public steamy kissing session. It was shown that night on network television. He must be hoping his hew affair is more private.
